Diwali For Kids

Diwali is a holiday season for kids who get vacations to celebrate this religious festival with friends, families, neighbors and their loved ones. Diwali brings happiness,excitement and get-together to share our Hindu customs and traditions through the means of such festivals. 

For Kids, Diwali is a time to have loads of sweets, gifts, new clothes, gadgets, crackers, variety food and plenty time to enjoy each day of diwali festival. Kids help their families in Deepawali preparations from cleaning to decorating puja ghar. Bhai Dooj is special for girls who tie red thread on their brother's wrist and ask for gift and cash in return to their prayer towards god for her brother's wellness.

Diwali Attractions in India

Diwali is one of the popular festival celebrated in India with great preparations, excitement, family togetherness and love. The joy of diwali festival could be seen months prior to the actual date because people plan their shopping, decorations, paint their homes, offices, set new ventures near to the Diwali festival to please various god-goddesses who shower their blessings after looking at the prosperous preparations done by people in their welcome on diwali day. Temples and religious places in India are decorated with lights and flowers on the day to mark the glorious victory of good over evil. People who want to have look at the various diwali attractions in India can visit these temples and places :

  • Diwali in Ayodhya - Ayodhya is a Hindu pilgrimage because it is Lord Rama's birth place and he returned to his hometown after fourteen years of exile. This place has special attraction during diwali days with tourists coming from different regions to witness the religious celebration of Diwali in Ayodhaya.
  • Diwali in Amritsar - Golden Temple of Amritsar is decorated with yellow lights creating magical reflection on the water spread all around the tomb. Not only sikhs but other people visit gurudwara and light ghee diya in honor to their guru.
  • Diwali in Delhi - Since Delhi is a national capital of India, the excitement of Diwali celebrations begans from Dussehra with crowded shopping markets, malls, sweets preparation, shops with crackers and lots of shopping offers, sale and discounts for people. Motichoor Ladoo On Diwali

Diwali Puja is incomplete without offering ladoo to Lord Ganesh who is delighted with these special balls prepared with besan in pure desi ghee. Here is the recipe about how to prepare Motichoor Ladoo on Diwali festival to delight god, goddess and the family. 

Ingredients:
 

1/3 cup milk (doodh)
1/2 kg sugar (cheeni)
1/2 kg bengal gram flour (besan)
1tblsp pistachios (pista)
1tblsp raisins (kishmish)
few drops orange (santra) colour
pure ghee for frying
a pinch baking powder

Instructions:

  • Sieve gram flour, add baking powder and mix it well.
  • Add 2 tblsp of melted ghee and enough water to make thick batter.
  • Heat up ghee in a kadhai and with a perforated (holes) spoon drop boondis in ghee.
  • Rub the batter on the spoon (karchi) with holes so that small drops of batter drop in oil, simultaneously tap the spoon on the rim of kadhai also.
  • Fry boondis till golden brown, remove and keep away for normal temperature.
  • Meanwhile make sugar syrup mixed in colour.
  • Put the fried boondis in this syrup, mix in the raisins and grated pistachios.
  • When mixture cools down slightly use buttered hands to make ladoos.
