Diwali has special love and feel for pottery because clay made lamps, diyas and other decoratives are part of the celebration. These clay lamps take us back to ancient time when people used to bring light at night by pouring oil in the lamp and burning with a cotton wick dipped in ghee. Earlier people used to light earthen lamp diyas to spread light all over and remove darkness. Today, craftsmen have given new look to the clay diyas. Vivid color shades are painted over the lamps and embellished with cut mirrors, fancy beads and sparkles. Wax filled diyas work as candle diyas and light for hours without extinguishing. Nowadays, people are giving basket or packs of beautifully crafted diwali clay lamps to share happiness of the festival. Apart from single spout diyas, multi spout diyas are in fashion and more and more people are liking such great collection.
