If you wish to enjoy traditional Indian recipes during the festival of Diwali, then making Khari Pudi is the best. Add salt and a little spice to your celebrations as you sit in the company of your loved ones. Khari Pudi is easy to make and would satiate the kid's hunger of having something yummy and mouth watering. One of the best thing about Khari Pudi is that it has a shelf life of around three to four days so that you can enjoy them even after the festival is gone for the year. But, of course that needs some of the Khari Puri to be left.

Ingredients for Khari Puri:

  • 2 Cups Refined Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Rice Flour
  • 2 Tablespoon Rice Flour Separate
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Omam Seeds
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Asafoetida Powder
  • 2 Teaspoonful Ghee
  • 2 Teaspoonful Oil
  • A little dry flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry the pudis

Mix the refined flour and rice flour. Add into it omam seeds, turmeric powder and asofoetida powder. Make a soft and pliable dough by kneading all these ingredients with water. Now make small balls of the dough till it is finished. Now roll one small ball on a flat surface and make a nice flat and round shape of it. Meanwhile let the pan with oil heat on a medium to low flame. Put the chapati like dough in the pan and fry till it turns into a light brown color. Serve hot with tangy pickles or cooked potatoes and enjoy the lunch with your family and friends. Khari pudi can also be served as a snack along with tea in the evening.
