Lapsi Recipe, Sweet Diwali Lapsi, Recipe Of Lapsi, Bulgar Sweet Recipe

This West Indian dish can be made in two altogether different ways. And you wouldn't be able to identify any kind of similarity between the two. One is sugary and the other is tangy and spicy. One contains lots of dry fruits and another is full of nutritious green vegetables. So let's start with the integral part of a meal, that is the cooked vegetable Lapsi.

Spicy Vegetable Lapsi Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup lapsi
1/2 Teaspoon mustard Seeds
1/2 Teaspoon cumin seeds
2 Red Chillies
A pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
1 large tomato, chopped
1/2 tablespoon turmeric powder
1 onion, chopped
1 tablespoonful Garam Masala
1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon Chili Powder
Salt to taste
1 cup of chopped vegetables of your choice
Chopped Coriander to garnish


Method of preparing Lapsi:
Roast Lapsi in a pan without adding oil to it. Heat oil in a separate pan and put cumin seeds and mustard seeds in it. Heat it they start popping up. Now put in it red chillies and onion. Mix them well and heat them at a low flame till they turn light pink in color. Add tomatoes, garlic paste and cook gain. As the ingredients seem diffused in one another add salt and chili powder to it. Mix well. Now add chopped vegetables and Lapsi and toss all of them. Cook them up in a pressure cooker with 3 cups of water. Finally, mix it with Garam Masala and sprinkle coriander leaves over it. Serve hot.

After that spicy and tangy Lapsee everyone of your guests would be longing for a dessert. So, here we are with an Indian dessert to be made on the occasion of an Indian festival. It is again a Lapsi, but this time it is really sweet.

Lapsi Recipe for Diwali
Sweet Lapsi Ingredients:

1 cup Broken Wheat
3/4 Cup sugar
4-5 Almonds
20 Raisins
Cardamom Powder
3/4 cup Ghee
2 1/2 cup Hot Water

Method of cooking lapsi:

Roast wheat flour on a pan along with some ghee. Keep it on a low flame and heat till it turns light brown. Now add water to it. Heat again till the water evaporates and wheat is left soft. Mix sugar, ghee and rest of the water and heat the mixture on a low flame. Keep stirring till the ghee starts bubbling out of it. Garnish it with blanched almonds and pistachios as well as with raisins.
